没有抽到最拿手的题目，不过也不算差，argument是高频，issue不是高频，但是是高频话题－－globalization，所以还好啦，就是 开头结尾写得烂一点。不管怎么样总算考完了，终于不用每天研究Elizabeth和slave-trade或者English drama之间的关系,Shakespeare的RichardII包含什么政治意味和我有什么关系呀，Victor Hugo的文采我倒没有体会多少，Wegener、Einstein、Planck、Mendelian…你们真的很伟大但是名字和功绩好难记，哈哈，摆脱了，Bill Gates和Google的恩怨情愁我其实根本不关心，也不用苦思Ebbers是如何让WorldCom破产的，G-8解决了什么问题关我什么事，日本七 十年代是如何腾飞的，韩国的家族企业是如何产生的，中美教育系统有什么差别，希腊人和文艺复兴时的人对癫痫病的看法有什么不同，为什么中国电信要重组，为什么星巴克最近要关闭那么多，美国政府为什么要资助艺术，哈哈，我终于不用知道为什么了……摆脱了，不用去研究这些复杂的故事和更复杂的专有名词拼写了….

哎，不管了，唯一不乐意的就是时间不够，也不知道拼写错的多不多，下一步就准备笔试了，不过我终于不用熬夜了～～

明天带着小红去易门住几天，这个月老忙作文，ignore了N多电话，八月不知道有没有机会补上了，估计大家都觉得我得了宅癖，算了。。。。cyn还是那 么那么耐心，我都不知道这样是好是坏了，没心情想这个问题，话已经说得那么清楚，难道他不懂，为什么都没有反应？还是拖着吧。。。他没有变吧，还是那么可爱又温柔了，一直容忍着，是我很自私很坏，是我的心太空了，谁都没错吧，缘分不到吗，好累啊…20出头，我还需要很多很多的努力，是还有很多事要去学 习去思考，真想自己可以把握自己的幸福，而不是把幸福诚惶诚恐的交去谁手里….我只想，不伤害别人，不糟蹋自己…我只想…有一个坚强的心…无论老天设置什么挫折，一定要站起来，要往前走，都会过去的，都会好起来的。。。。让我快点好起来吧。。。

从易门回来终于可以去逛街了，我假期回来都没有逛过街买过衣服的呢，刚刚一看，贴了first argument，忘记贴issue了，下面贴上first issue，算纪念下吧～

Throughout human history, we have utilized paper to serve civilization for centuries, without paper there would not be the vibrant and rich culture of human society. However, as the advances in technology continue to accelerate, paper seemingly pales in importance compared with new form information transferring medium and the trend appears to be away from written records toward video records approach. I agree that it is fortunate for us to own video as a supplementary kind of documentation, especially for objective record of events’ spatial aspects; nevertheless, since there is far more to document than what have happened in life, the speaker overemphasizes on the importance of video.

The invention of written record was just as critical—if not more so—in the development of modern humans as the invention of language. I turn first to one significant virtue of written records lie in summary of one’s thoughts and abstracting a vital conclusion for the purpose directly by terse statement, in which video is of no practical use. As an available way of storing, written documentations make incandescent ideas and great theories spread widely. For example, video cannot help Emerson accomplished the clearest statement of Transcendentalist ideas, which is published in 1936 in his famous book Nature, likewise, political theory such as The Federalist Papers, which are regarded as the best explanation of the U.S. constitution, cannot be presented without written records. Moreover, only by means of written record demographic that is based on statistical information can be achieved. In brief, most of society science theories and quantitative knowledge that we gain comes to us via the written words.

The value of written record is not limited in academic field, when it comes to express our emotion and mood, written record bulks large. Literature, especially poetry—a form of literary art for aesthetic, poets praise the ideas of equality and democracy and celebrate the dignity, such as in Walt Whitman’s masterpiece Leaves of Grass, to make positive change in the our spirit. Lyric poetry focuses on expressing personal nature, the poet’s own feelings, states of mind, and perceptions. Although several movies also can make a visceral impact on our souls through a different way, the poetry’s artistic value beyond emotional picture is the unique form such as rhyme and rhythm; John Milton’s preface to Paradise Lost is a famous illustrations. The jintishi is a Chinese poetic form based on classical Chinese language and has a rich poetic diction and a wide range of subject for the mysterious and perplexing world by terse and implicit words for us future generations to gaze into for insight and appreciation of the history. Obviously, what is more wonderful literature than video records is that literature can be both objective, and subjective.

Nevertheless, in some cases,modern technology has brought us more convenient documental method,that is video camera, especially when we consider about the anti-crime, camera usually plays a vital role in providing convincing evidence against crime. Video camera provides exchanges between different cultures and different languages by the vivid records. Moreover, with a video camera, we can record important events in our lives, and video camera can bring us immediate information over the world through a live report. Therefore, video camera is accurate, objective and timely.

Sum up, written record is responsible for the rise of civilization, meanwhile video is also so important that we have never wanted to risk losing the benefits it brings to us. Hence, both of them are irreplaceable forms of documentation, actually it is indeed not an either-or choice; we can treat them equally and use advantages of both to serve us, better than either one alone. The following appeared in a memo from the owner of Green Thumb Gardening Center, a small business serving a suburban town.”There is evidence that consumers are becoming more and more interested in growing their own vegetables. A national survey conducted last month indicated that many consumers were dissatisfied with the quality of fresh vegetables available in supermarkets. And locally, the gardening magazine Great Gardens has sold out at the Village News stand three months in a row. Thus, we at Green Thumb Gardening Center can increase our profits by greatly expanding the variety of vegetable seeds we stock for gardeners his coming spring.”

In this argument the author yields conclusion that their firm Green Gardens (GG) could increase their profits by greatly expanding the variety of vegetable seeds. To support it the author provide a series of evidence involves the national consumers’ dissatisfaction for the vegetables in supermarket and the sale growth of gardening magazine Great Gardens in Village News. However, careful scrutiny reveals several logical flaws in the line of reasoning upon which the conclusion relies, that render the argument invalid in whole.

To begin with, one flaw sufficiently undermines the argument lies in its fallacy of begging the question. The author attempts to convert the conclusion into a valid one relying on the implicit premise that the consumers would begin to grow vegetable themselves immediately, for dissatisfied with vegetable in supermarkets last month. The assumption is neither can be showed as a tautology, nor demonstrated by means of proof procedure—actually, the author skipped it entirely and merely assumes it to be true, yet in all likelihood, the consumers will buy vegetables in alternative places, or they can buy vegetables from farmers directly. Moreover, perhaps the quality of the vegetable in supermarkets has been improved recently. Hence, the author fails to persuade me before establishing the conclusion.

Secondly, even assuming foregoing premise is justified, the conclusion remains specious, for the unawareness of the fact that the national consumers are not homogenous, and there is a great  enough variation to indicate that it is not reasonable to apply a general rule to the location—a specific case when perhaps accidental circumstances may render the general rule inapplicable. Perhaps the local residents have never complained with the vegetable in supermarkets, and they buy the magazine for other purposes, furthermore, the author omits to provide information to validate whether the sale of Village News Stance is representative of the location’s, or merely a atypical case. In brief, what is true in general might not be true universally and without qualification, or vice versa.

Last but not least, it is necessary to point out another logical flaw in the argument is that even granted local consumers would be interested in grow their own vegetables, there is no guarantee that GG could increate profits by expanding the variety of vegetable seeds. After all, the consumers are dissatisfied with the quality of vegetables, not the scantiness of vegetables’ categories.

In sum, the argument is not persuasive since no firm evidence-based conclusion can be reached. There is no space here to go into detail on all problems, but deserve several proposals in order to compensate for these flaws, additional evidence should be provide in order to demonstrate the consumers will begin to grow vegetables themselves and the local ones also dissatisfied with the supermarkets’ vegetable, and consumers indeed likely incline to chose different variety of seeds, then the merit of the conclusion might be established.
